The Villan, The Monster, The Truth

It's unreal how I've saved numerous people's reputations by not telling my side of the story. I am the villain in some people's stories, and I am okay with that, because they are monsters in mine.

To truly understand my truth, we must understand the difference between a villain and a monster:

Monster vs. Villain: A Necessary Distinction

Character Type

Defining Traits

Monsters

Driven by instinct, chaos, and a desire to destroy. They lack sympathy and their motives are often unreasoned.

They are dangerous, feared for simply existing, and threaten the lives of others without remorse.

Villains

Rounded characters with relatable or sympathetic characteristics. Their actions contradict the interests or ideals of others, but they have moral reasons or a backstory that explains their motives.

They have depth, complexity, and the potential for redemption. They could have been the good guy if their pathway hadn't been altered.

My Story: The Monsters and The Villain

And that is exactly what happened in my story. The events and situations that occurred threatened my life, caused chaos for me, and affected an innocent individual stuck in the middle. The destruction they caused was immense.

Neither of the monsters in my story ever took responsibility for their actions. Their desires drove their destructive behavior, they did not care about the destruction and chaos they caused.

The Villain in their story, which is ME, has a backstory that explains my actions. I am evil in their narrative simply because my actions contradicted their interests and exposed their behavior.

The Truth I Had to Tell

One thing you will learn here is there are always two sides of every story... There is theirs, and then there is mine. What you need to know about mine is that it is real. It is not made up, and believe me, sometimes I wish it was.

I had to learn to stop blaming other people for some of the things I allowed to happen. I allowed myself to be disrespected and embarrassed by those monsters. But why would either of them ever admit this? I stayed quiet for a long time a lot longer than I should have.

The things I've experienced have changed me, broken me, built me, and taught me to be stronger than I ever thought I could be. People may judge me based on a small part of what they’ve heard or seen, but what they haven't heard or seen is how much I've overcome and how I muddled through the storms.

Growth isn't always loud; it's sometimes silent, steady, and deeply personal. But the fact of the matter is, I did grow. I had to learn how to forgive myself and others (not for them, but for me) so I can heal and move on.

The New Chapter

You can't skip chapters of your life. You have to read every line, meet every character, and keep going. This story of the monsters and the villain continues to evolve day by day. You have to learn to appreciate where you are in your story, even if it's not where you want to be. Every chapter serves its purpose.

Improving myself daily is the ONLY addiction I have right now. The only person who can create the life you want is YOU. I have learned that I can NOT let my past dictate my future anymore. Your direction is more important than your speed.

I am no longer defined by that old story because I am too busy creating the one I want. That story is not the one I wanted, but it is a story I had to finally tell the truth about. Because the VILLAIN is NOT always the bad guy people think you are.

"Without the rain nothing grows. Learn to embrace the storms in your life."
