Survival to Revival: Taking the Pen Back (3 Part Series)
If you’ve noticed I’ve been quiet for the last few weeks, because I’ve been working 12-hour days, six days a week.
Rebuilding a life from scratch isn't a glamorous movie montage set to a catchy soundtrack. It’s exhausting, gritty, and quiet. It means showing up on a random Tuesday when your feet are aching, you’re running purely on caffeine, and nobody is standing around clapping for you.
For the longest time, my identity was built entirely on a foundation of "not." I was not sober, I was not reliable, and I was definitely not okay. Addiction is loud; it’s a full-time job that fills every crack of your personality until there’s no room for anything else. But when the noise finally stops and the substances are gone, the silence that follows isn't just peaceful, it's terrifying. You realize you’ve spent so many years surviving the storm that you’ve completely forgotten how to live in the sun.
I’m currently standing in that silence, shaking hands with a version of myself I haven’t seen in a decade, and if I’m being honest? I’m still not quite sure if we’re going to be friends yet. This isn't a story about "finding" myself; it's a story about building a person from scratch.
Road to Redemption isn't just a hobby for me. It’s my passion, my story, and the foundation of everything I am building for my future and for my daughter. No matter how tired I am, I refuse to give up on the promises I made to myself.
To break the silence and mark this next chapter, I’m launching a three-part blog series to pull back the curtain on what rebuilding actually looks like with no fluff, no clichés, just raw truth and practical mindsets for survival and growth.
Here is what we're diving into together:
Part 1: It’s Never Too Late to Rewrite Your Story (Getting Tired of Your Own Bullshit)
How I went from a successful corporate trade show manager to hitting rock bottom, and why waking up from the pity party is the exact moment you reclaim the pen to write your own life.
Part 2: What No One Tells You About Changing Your Life (The Reality of Rebuilding & The Life Audit)
Navigating early recovery with a clear mind, handling life on life's terms, and the practical "Life Audit" system I used to organize the chaos when everything was burning around me.
Part 3: Confessions of a Work in Progress (Real Talk from the Trenches 1.5 Years In)
A year and a half into rebuilding: juggling multiple jobs, setting non-negotiable boundaries, letting go of non-reciprocal energy, and celebrating real wins like getting my own apartment for the first time in 18 years.
If you are currently feeling lost, stuck, or overwhelmed by the heavy silence of your own journey, know this: your past does not own your future.
You don't need to have every step figured out to start; you just have to decide that you're done letting life dictate who you are.
It’s time to take the pen back. We do not have to do this alone... let's do this together.
We can rebuild ourselves from scratch together.
